Presented by Mr O. McCawley from the U.S Centre for Army Lessons Learned (CALL) at the 10th International Lessons Learned Conference (10ILLC) dated 17 May 19.

Lessons and Best Practices from U.S. Army Support to Civilian Authorities in Natural Disasters Militaries often play a critical role in supporting civilian authorities during natural disaster recovery operations. The sharing and disseminating of military lessons and best practices between militaries from natural disasters is critical to readiness in supporting civilian authorities. As the world population density and destructive nature of natural disaster
increases, the sharing and application of these lessons and best practices contribute to reducing the pain and suffering of an affected population. The Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL) will present lessons and best practices from the U.S. Army’s support to civilian authorities in natural disaster events focusing on U.S. Army support to civilian authorities during the Haitian 2010 Earthquake, Typhoon Haiyan 2013 (Philippines) and Hurricane Katrina 2006 (U.S.).
