Today’s complex operating environment presents myriad threats that challenge existing capabilities across domains. The character of warfare has changed. Therefore, we must examine how to adapt to this change. Leaders can no longer think in the relatively simple terms of direct and indirect fires on a 2D or 3D battlefield. Instead, they must become familiar with how to operate across domains in complex environments like Dense Urban Terrain.
Presently, our adversaries are achieving effects in these very same environments. How we think, how we educate, and how we train, will drive change.
